The history of Mercedes-Benz is a “legacy of firsts, from the patent of the first automobile in 1886 to some of the most advanced technologies you’ll find today.” (www.mbusa.com) When Mercedes-Benz of Medford wanted a brand new facility, they wanted the best. Their general contractor looked to H2 to do all the site work. From grading to utilities to the parking lot to the curbs, H2 did all the site work and helped to make this project a complete success.
According to its website, “Hertz is proud to be the largest car rental company in the world, providing quality rental service for 80 years.” Hertz is also #1 in Oregon and has used Robin Hulce to build Hertz Car Sales facilities in Medford, Eugene, Albany, Salem, and Klamath in Oregon as well as Pasco, Washington.
The Siskiyou Medical Building was one of the very first "green" buildings to be built in the Rogue Valley. In addition to the parking lot, H2 did all the underground utilities including the building's geothermal heating and cooling lines. The Siskiyou Medical Building website states that the SMB is the "only commercial building in the Rogue Valley that uses the temperature of the earth itself as the main source of energy to accomplish its heating and cooling. The SMB has 22 thousand linear feet of High Density Polypropylene pipe buried 5 feet beneath the entire parking lot. The system will constantly circulate a mixture of water and methanol through those pipes. This mixture will be converted to the ambient temperature of the soil at that depth, where the temperature is a constant 52-54 degrees F. Thus when it is hot and the building must be cooled, the water / methanol mixture carries the excess heat to the earth where it is released. The mixture is converted back to 54 degrees and returns to the building to carry away more heat. The opposite process occurs when it is cold and the building must be heated."
